BGM Charitable Society has made significant strides in empowering women by forming over 215 Women Self Help Groups (SHGs). Each group consists of 15 to 20 members, and we focus on strengthening them through various means such as training, establishing micro-production units, promoting goat rearing, and poultry keeping. These efforts play a pivotal role in combating rural poverty and improving the lives of our community members. The SHGs act as a powerful platform for rural women, providing opportunities for savings, mobilization, and credit accessibility. Moreover, they serve as a forum where women can openly discuss and address their challenges, making collective decisions to find solutions. Most of the SHG members come from economically underprivileged families, living in challenging conditions. BGM Charitable Society is committed to nurturing and empowering these SHGs. We regularly conduct group meetings, where members can openly share their concerns and receive guidance from one of our team members. As a result, the women are not only aware of their rights but also equipped to work together to achieve them. We firmly believe that organizing, mobilizing, and empowering women are essential steps toward realizing their dreams and aspirations. To achieve this goal, BGM has dedicated five animators and one coordinator who work tirelessly to organize and capacitate the women in the community. Through our collective efforts, we strive to bring positive change to the lives of these women and their families, fostering a more inclusive and prosperous rural society.
BGM Charitable Society is dedicated to empowering rural women through various vocational training programs. These initiatives aim to equip them with valuable skills and opportunities for economic independence. Some of the training programs offered include Doll making, Handmade flower making, Fabric painting, Hand Embroidery, Pappad making, and Pickle making, among others. Many rural women have benefited from these training programs, utilizing the skills they acquire to improve their livelihoods. To address the issue of unemployment and poverty among women, BGM offers free job training, supporting them in establishing independent ventures after completing the training. The primary objective of these programs is to provide earning power and financial stability to disadvantaged women. Currently, a significant number of women in our society rely solely on their husbands' earnings, leading to stagnant family incomes. Limited job opportunities and low remuneration exacerbate the challenges faced by these women, making their lives difficult. BGM recognizes these hardships and actively conducts training programs to reduce unemployment and poverty among women.
The success of these initiatives has sparked interest from women in neighboring villages who are eager to establish similar training centers. Unfortunately, due to limited funds, BGM is unable to fulfill all of these requests at the moment.
At BGM Charitable Society, our commitment to empowering women through vocational training remains steadfast. We strive to expand our reach and impact, enabling more women to break free from the cycle of poverty and build brighter futures for themselves and their families. We welcome support and collaboration from like-minded individuals and organizations to help us extend the reach of these transformative programs and create lasting change in the lives of rural women.
The Tailoring School initiated by BGM Charitable Society has been a transformative resource for rural women in our community. Offering free training, the school has empowered these women with valuable skills and opportunities for economic independence. A highly qualified and experienced teacher serves as the trainer, ensuring the best guidance for the students. Upon completion of the training, the women utilize the center as a common service hub. Many of the trained Self-Help Group (SHG) members invest in sewing machines and utilize the facility regularly. This initiative not only enables them to meet their clothing needs but also opens doors for potential income generation.
Recognizing the potential of these talented women, BGM Charitable Society extends its support to help them purchase sewing machines and establish production centers, either individually or collectively. Additionally, we provide short-term training in Embroidery and Fashion Design, adding value to their skills and increasing their income prospects.
The tailoring school has proven to be a valuable asset for rural women, offering them a chance to enhance their livelihoods and become self-reliant. At BGM, we are committed to fostering sustainable solutions that uplift the lives of these women, paving the way for a brighter and more empowered future for all.
